I started by work in human forms with my own design from mental images of the “expression” combined with some rudimentary art books and self-inspection in the mirror.  In order to gain further experience with human forms I was also inspired by the work of August Rodin.  “Rodin’s Kiss” is a wall-hanging inspired by a photograph of his famous sculpture.  My greatest challenge working from only one frontal photograph was my lack of appreciation of the depth of the sculpture as viewed by only the foreshortening in the photo.  I am currently working on several wax models with similar “expression” to eventually sculpt in full three dimensions.
